Digital agriculture initiatives are essential to digital development efforts worldwide, as so many families rely on farming for subsistence and income. Considering the overall country perspective, it is high time for Bangladesh to have a Digital Agriculture Strategy with a realistic action plan which will also work as a guideline for the policymakers and stakeholders to move forward.

Following this need, a2i and FAO have jointly organized the “SMART Agriculture Mission” Innovation Workshop on Saturday, 1st of October 2022, at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh. The workshop was attended by industry experts, agri-tech startups, and government representatives.

The workshop identified the major problems and possible solutions in streamlining the digitalization of agriculture and identified vital action points to develop a Digital Agriculture Strategy and activity plan for Bangladesh. The workshop was divided into four focus areas: farming (agri tech); food processing, storage, transportation; digital supply chain; and support center and value additions.
